John James Foundation Hearing Aiders Program

The John James Foundation Hearing Aiders Program was introduced into the ACT by our former CEO Peter Halsey. The program was started to promote hearing aid care for our seniors in nursing homes and aged care facilities.

The Hearing Aiders Program involves the maintenance of hearing aids each month for hearing impaired residents. Through the program, our DRC Hearing Aiders Coordinator changes batteries and cleans hearing aid moulds.

When hearing health issues arise, these are referred to staff for specialist care by an audiologist or a doctor, as appropriate.

This program enables aged care staff to focus on other areas of concern for their residents and to provide a holistic approach to an individual’s care. The program has been renamed to reflect the wonderful ongoing support provided by the John James Foundation.
